Girl Scouts are committed to helping girls build character and skills for success in the real world! We believe that when young people go abroad, it opens their eyes to a world of possibilities. They become more open-minded and learn how to be more independent. They gain greater global awareness and a deeper understanding of their own culture. Our Girl Scout troop loves to travel and experience new activities, foods, and cultures! In 2020 we are heading to Europe with girls from another Canton troop and Girl Scouts from the Lewistown area as well, to visit London, Paris, Florence, and Rome! Along the way, we will experience new foods, see historic sites such as Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, and the Coliseum while growing relationships within our group and making new friends, too!
Our group will be visiting the Pax Lodge, the WAGGGS World Centre in North London where we will have the opportunity to earn a Pax Lodge challenge badge. We will also learn about different cultures, take a tour and take part in a Girl Scout pinning ceremony at the lodge.
Our trip will include sleeping on a train while traveling to Paris where we will visit Vatican City and take a tour of the Sistine Chapel. We will explore Pompeii and enjoy a boat excursion to the island of Capri. SO many amazing experiences that we may not have the opportunity to do if we were not Girl Scouts!
Over the next two years, our troops will be working very hard to raise funds for this once in a lifetime trip! We have several group fundraisers planned, plus the girls will be doing odd jobs and working in their communities to raise money as well. Watch our events page and Facebook to find out when and what our next event will be! Plus, each girl also has a link for their trip where friends, family, and community members can donate directly to that girl. Contact us via email to get that information if you are interested!
